ITRI is the biggest RTO (Research and Technology Organisation) dedicated to applied research in Taiwan. Since natural resources are scarce in Taiwan, the firm is heavily reliant on circular economy principles. With the widespread global use of consumer electronic products, the world has long been plagued by LCD waste. ITRI’s answer to the challenge is a prize-winning solution to turn discarded LCD panels into valuable assets. Aside from the optimal reuse of precious materials such as liquid crystal and indium, the solution can also detoxify industrial waste water. ITRI’s products and services also include lignin PU foam, bio-based PEF, starch-based biomass composites, functional dyeing and the reuse of lemon peels.
