Biogas – a clean domestic fuel

Transport produces about 20% of Finland's greenhouse gas emissions. Fortunately, more energy-efficient vehicles are now available as alternatives to petrol and diesel cars. These include biogas cars, which run on cleaner, domestic fuel.

Savings: You save on annual car costs, because the price of biogas is lower and more stable than normal fuel.

Remember this: You may not live near a petrol station that sells biogas, because right now they are concentrated in southern and southeast Finland. They are quite uncommon in other parts of the country.

Reducing your carbon footprint: Driving a biogas car instead of a combustion engine car reduces your carbon footprint by 17.5% per year. If a million Finns did this, it would save the equivalent of 175,000 carbon footprints per year.
