Don’t waste heat

Lowering the temperature in storerooms, service spaces and empty rooms is a really easy way to save money. There’s no need to heat spaces where people don’t spend time.

Savings: The monetary savings depend on the size of the space and how much you lower the temperature. A good rule of thumb is that one degree in temperature is equivalent to 5% in heating costs.

Remember this: You may not notice that you’re heating an empty space unnecessarily. Move small objects that require a higher temperature into your home and keep the storeroom cooler.

Reducing your carbon footprint: Lowering the temperature of a 3 m2 storeroom by five degrees reduces your carbon footprint a little, but if a million Finns did this, it would save the equivalent of 2,000 carbon footprints.
