LitAdvisor challenges you to change one holiday flight per year to travelling by reading. It is part of the Fly-Ban project and one of the ways of reducing the annual carbon footprint of our own households. By accepting the challenge, you will notice how travelling by reading can be just as relaxing and eye-opening as traditional travelling.
You can participate in the challenge by taking a photo of yourself or your family travelling by reading and posting it on social media with the hashtags #litadvisor and #lukumatkalla. Attach a brief TripAdvisor-type description of your trip to the photo and challenge your friends to join in!
Flying off on holiday is one of the one-off emissions that most affects an individual’s carbon footprint and can undo all of the smaller green actions they have undertaken during the year. Cutting down flying can therefore be a significant environmental action. LitAdvisor shows you that you can fly further with the wings provided by a book and your imagination than you can by aeroplane. A person who reads relaxes and learns and can also share the experience with others. Fly less – read more!
Three literature professionals can be found behind LitAdvisor: Producer Anna Borgman from Nuoren Voiman Liitto (NVL), poet Ainokaisa Huusko from the poetry society Nihil Interit and performance poetry activist Hanna Rentola from the Helsinki Poetry Connection.
NVL’s LitAdvisor campaign is one of the Globe League finalists.
