The market value of Sitra’s investment assets was 931 million euros on 30 June 2022 (1 107 million euros on 31 Dec. 2021).
The second and final payment of 66.7 million euros to further capitalize Finnish universities was made in January 2022. It dates back to December 2019 when Sitra’s Supervisory Board decided to make a non-recurring donation of 100 million euros to universities. The first payment of 33.3 million euros was made in August 2020.
In the first half year of 2022, the return on Sitra’s investments was -8,6 per cent.
Nearly all asset classes depreciated during the period from January to June. Inflation accelerated and the war in Ukraine increased energy prices further. Central banks have started to raise policy rates to contain inflation. The amount of bond purchases has also been reduced.

Sitra’s investment portfolio is diversified across geographies as well as asset classes. Over one third of investments are in Finland.
