The Network for Sustainable Mining convened for its inaugural meeting on Tuesday 27 May 2014 in Lohja, at the Tytyri Mine Museum. Present at the meeting were 15 people representing the mining industry and its stakeholders, and a team from Sitra, which supports the creation of the network.

The discussion was very fruitful, and the collaboration got off to a good start. All attendees jointly discussed appropriate co-operation practices for the network and planned future activities.

The network unanimously elected Eero Yrjö-Koskinen of the Finnish Association for Nature Conservation as its deputy chairman. He will be assisting Sitra’s Sylvie Fraboulet-Jussila in leading the network in 2014.

The Network for Sustainable Mining will convene for the next time at the end of the summer and host a seminar together with Sitra.
