Sitra invested EUR 10 million in the Capricorn Cleantech Fund. The capital base of the fund is EUR 111.5 million. The fund is one of the most promising investors in the environmental and energy sectors operating in Europe. In addition, Capricorn Venture Partners has long-term investment experience in pan-European investments.
The cooperation provides Sitra with a good view on the environmental and energy sector businesses and their possibilities in Europe. The fund invests in growth companies in the field and acquires their minority shares. According to the capital investment model, the companies will be actively developed for some years after which a new development stage owner will be sought for them. With its investment, Sitra receives market intelligence on the growing cleantech market in Europe.
The investment is a continuation of Sitra’s Environmental Programme, which has already been concluded, and supports the ongoing Energy Programme. Cooperation with Capricorn creates an excellent framework and networks for Sitra to promote business in the energy sector in Finland.
