Annerieke Douma has over 15 years’ experience of developing programmes and businesses. At Circle Economy Annerieke is the Director for Cities and Regions developing the Cities programme, with a focus on innovation and implementing the scaling ambitions of the organisation. Recent accomplishments include the Amsterdam City Doughnut project and programme development, led by Annerieke in collaboration with Oxford economist Kate Raworth, which aims to develop thriving cities through the co-creation of a new, integrated and holistic (policy) agenda for cities. In addition, she has successfully established close partnerships with leading organisations like C40 and is closely collaborating with ICLEI and UN Environment on circular jobs in cities.
Annerieke has a passion for the innovation and scaling of circularity and sees it as one of the major solutions for addressing climate change while allowing global economies to gain social, economic and ecological prosperity. Her professional career has seen the establishment of a successful consultancy firm, guiding sustainable brands at multinational corporations. Prior to joining Circle Economy, Annerieke was responsible for organising the Netherlands as a Circular Hotspot campaign during the Dutch EU presidency, which has resulted in a global network of circular hotspots (Holland Circular Hotspot). Currently, Annerieke holds a seat on the FORCE and AMFI advisory boards.
