Juha Koponen is the Co-Founder and Chief Data Scientist with Swap.com and was the CEO of Swap.com until March 2019. Swap.com is the leading online consignment and thrift shop operating in the United States. The company strives to redefine consignment services by making the process of buying and selling pre-owned goods more convenient, safe and profitable. Preventing waste by saving pre-owned clothes and accessories from ending up in landfills, shoppers can feel good about the purchases they make on Swap.com.
Prior to launching Swap.com, Juha worked from 1999 for the telecommunications software company First Hop in several technical and commercial executive positions until First Hop was acquired in 2007. Juha has a DSc degree in Engineering Physics from Helsinki University of Technology (now Aalto University) and his doctor’s thesis was in experimental fusion reactor research at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics in Germany.
