Funding call: Data and AI in strategic decision-making in the public sector
In the spring of 2025, Sitra launched a funding call for all public sector actors for solutions that significantly promote the use of data and AI in strategic decision-making to improve productivity. We received a total of 23 applications of which we selected projects from the City of Espoo and the Finnish National Agency for Education for funding.
Sitra’s aim is to support the development of Finnish public administration as a pioneer in the use of data and artificial intelligence. Sitra is launching a funding call to accelerate the use of data and AI in strategic decision-making in the public sector.
Through the funding call, Sitra will support significant improvements in the productivity, data management and use of data in public administration at local, regional and central government levels. The call is looking for concrete solutions to improve productivity by using data in strategic decision-making. Strategic decision-making is defined as decisions that significantly direct the activities and/or resources of an organisation.
We fund projects that aim to significantly improve productivity in the public sector. For example, projects can help speed up decision-making and automate routine tasks, support the rapid deployment of AI solutions in public administration, or leverage data across organisational boundaries.
